The New Millennium-A series of mixed media fine art canvases

The New Millennium series was started in January 2019. Chronicling our collective experiences in this century, RKP’s New Millennium series of canvases is the story of the first 21 years (2000-2020) of the New Millennium.  While each is an individual original work, it is meant to be presented together in chronological order. This website presents the work in a reverse timeline so that it may stimulate your most recent memories.

When seen together a story unfolds, illuminating how over time, leaders, media icons and corporate innovators have either contributed to or stymied progressive change on our planet and in the human experience through their actions or inaction.

“Each viewer based on their age and personal experiences will likely have a different reaction to this art.” says RKP.  The Artist selects events highly covered by American media and layers in many other historical events of each year.

“Often the same newsworthy topics make headlines year-to-year. While there is progress, there is also backlash on issues like::  gun violence, North Korea, Iran, Israel, Gaza, Russia, climate change, war, genocide, racial inequities and gay rights. Nevertheless, pop culture provides a respite from pressing issues.

The takeaway is a one of political inertia and polarization of people in America and around the world.  RKP tempers the content with positive human achievements, and inspirational things that also happened these years; winning athletes, top Billboard music hits and memorable films that premiered to help bring a context to the timeline.
